Montoux has been growing rapidly in 2018, and we wanted to take a moment to start introducing some of the brilliant people we have welcomed to our team over the past few months. It’s time to celebrate (okay, and maybe brag a little about) the wealth of knowledge and experience our new team members are bringing into Montoux.
Without further ado, here are some of the newest Montouvians to join us as we help our customers revolutionize life insurance:
Jack Robinson, Software Engineer
Jack graduated from Victoria University with another of our Software Engineers, Luke, and the two then worked together at Xero until Luke moved on to Montoux. Jack joined us in April this year - after many months of hearing Luke talk about how great we are! Jack says he likes working within Montoux's smaller team where everyone knows one another, though conversely is really excited to be part of a company on the verge of scaling rapidly, and tackling the challenges that will come along with that growth. Jack is a self-professed nerd, and outside of Montoux enjoys hanging out with his friends who share his love of movies, games and books. Jack also keeps busy exploring Wellington’s abundance of walking tracks through the hills, and lately has been trying out fermenting his own ginger beer, kombucha and tepache.
Glen Peek, Software Engineer
Glen joined the Montoux team in April, after initially learning about the company from our Platform Lead Developer Stephen, who spoke as a guest lecturer during his Compiler Engineering course - and later discovering his girlfriend’s brother is also part of the team! Glen moved from Atlanta, Georgia USA, where he was studying Biomedical Engineering, to New Zealand to be closer to his family in 2008. Since the move down under he also studied film, and completed an honors degree in Software Engineering. Glen enjoys the encouragement Montoux provides, to help challenge him and further grow his development as a Software Engineer. In his spare time Glen embraces his creative side, by watching a lot of films - and working on making his own.
Daniel Pringle, Data Scientist
Dan initially joined the team to help with a short project on referral from one of Montoux’s board members, but worked so well with the team that we kept him full time. Dan has previously been working on an electricity market development project for NZX, so was excited to return to analytical work. Dan says he enjoys the diverse mix of nationalities in the Montoux team, and the way people challenge one another technically. Our flexible work environment is also a big plus, enabling Dan to spend a little more time at home with his 3-year-old daughter Poppy - or bring her into work to visit Wellington office dog Aiko!
Glynn Foster, Product Manager
Glynn is our newest addition to the team, as our highly anticipated product manager! Glynn will be working across the different teams at Montoux to help development better understand customer requirements, and in turn help customers gain the maximum benefit from using our products. Glynn had been enjoying a break in his career prior to joining Montoux, after spending the previous 17 years working remotely for US-based Sun Microsystems and Oracle. Glynn was excited to join our friendly team, and he appreciated the use of cutting edge, disruptive technology within such a legacy industry. In Glynn’s spare time he enjoys hanging out with his family, and also working towards his goal of creating a small nano-brewery in his home - he says one of his most memorable achievements was winning a prize in the 2013 Wellington in a Pint competition and being awarded the opportunity to brew his beer recipe with Tuatara.
An Le, Actuary
An learned about Montoux around three years ago, while working as an actuarial analyst at AMP. She was excited to join the team, and help to provide actuarial and technical modeling support to Montoux customers - but also really appreciated our Wellington office’s close proximity to her apartment! An is so far really enjoying our flexibility, and agile work environment - she says it’s pretty easy to implement changes and get things done at Montoux. An speaks English, Vietnamese and French, and has a personal goal of traveling to one new place every year - she has already ticked off 15 different countries from the list!
