Meet some of our new 'Montouxians'
Montoux has been growing rapidly in 2018, and we wanted to take a moment to start introducing some of the brilliant people we have welcomed to our team over the past few months. It’s time to celebrate (okay, and maybe brag a little about) the wealth of knowledge and experience our new team members are bringing into Montoux.
Without further ado, here are some of the newest Montouxians to join us as we help our customers revolutionize life insurance:
Toni Moyes, Chief Operating Officer
Before joining Montoux, Toni had spent four years working hard as COO for another Wellington startup, so took a well deserved break between roles - which she filled by being one of the selection team members for the Edmund Hillary Fellowship, and also spending a week living the digital nomad dream in Bali. Toni was excited to join Montoux because she saw us as a company with a big, important opportunity that had reached an inflection point. In her role as COO, Toni sees herself as building the infrastructure and culture to make Montoux a high-performing team as we scale faster and faster. Toni is passionate about personal development, as well as growing the network of peer mentoring groups for women in leadership she started with her friend Jess Manins - and also enjoys reading, travelling, and discussing issues big and small with her friends and family.
Glen Peek, Software Engineer
Glen joined the Montoux team in April, after initially learning about the company from our Platform Lead Developer Stephen, who spoke as a guest lecturer during his Compiler Engineering course - and later discovering his girlfriend’s brother is also part of the team! Glen moved from Atlanta, Georgia USA, where he was studying Biomedical Engineering, to New Zealand to be closer to his family in 2008. Since the move down under he also studied film, and completed an honours degree in Software Engineering. Glen enjoys the encouragement Montoux provides, to help challenge him and further grow his development as a Software Engineer. In his spare time Glen embraces his creative side, by watching a lot of films - and working on making his own.
Daniel Pringle, Data Scientist
Dan initially joined the team to help with a short project on referral from one of Montoux’s board members, but worked so well with the team that we kept him full time. Dan has previously been working on an electricity market development project for NZX, so was excited to return to analytical work. Dan says he enjoys the diverse mix of nationalities in the Montoux team, and the way people challenge one another technically. Our flexible work environment is also a big plus, enabling Dan to spend a little more time at home with his 3-year-old daughter Poppy - or bring her into work to visit Wellington office dog Aiko!
